Jamie Hart Interview: The Tea On Her Steamy New Summer Series

July 30, 2022 //  by Jamie Hart//  Leave a Comment

Meet co-creator and writer Jamie Hart who plays bookish, anxious, bisexual bartender Harper Shelley on Sloppy Jones. We sat down with her on the set of Season 1 to get to know more about her inspirations, her idols and how she relates to her character Harper. #Slashers #Serverlife

Jamie Hart Interview

Why don’t you introduce yourself and your character?

Hi I’m Jamie Hart. I play Harper Shelley on Sloppy Jones and I’m one of the co-creators.

Harper is a broke, bisexual bartender and that has been me for close to a decade. She’s really well-educated. She loves Lord Byron and the Romantics, but she also loves whiskey and not talking to you about her feelings.

She’s definitely very firm with her moral compass. She thinks she’s right a lot.

Do you see yourself in her at all?

I definitely do see a bit of myself in Harper. We wrote these roles for ourselves, so it’s really hard not to pour yourself into her. One of the first things we wrote about Harper was that she’s the DM for her weekly Dungeons and Dragons group and that’s me.

Are you a horror or comedy fan at all?

I am a horror comedy fan! I think the best horrors are the ones like Scream, where they’re a little bit funny. They have some of the best one-liners. You really start to care about the characters and then when there’s stakes for them it’s scarier!

Who are your influences?

My favourite writers are Mary Shelley, Libba Bray and Joseph Heller. My idol when I was growing up and still now is Helena Bonham Carter. I had her as my desktop screensaver like 12 years. I always wanted to be an actor and then when I turned 13 I started writing FanFiction, so I love writing too.
