A creative thinker with excellent team skills and strong storytelling abilities, Paul is passionate about music, film, and comedy. Paul’s body of work includes feature films, broadcast and multi-platform documentaries, TV series, commercials, and music videos.
At the age of 21, Paul was hired by the CTV Television Network in Toronto where he thrived for 19 years, working as a technical director, editor, director, graphic designer, and animator. Some of his most memorable productions were the live coverage of the Olympics in Calgary, Barcelona, and Lillehammer.
In 1997 Paul partnered with Nina Beveridge to expand Beevision Productions into a full-service post-production and broadcast design facility. Their work together included film VFX, broadcast animated openings, commercials, and the editing and finishing of TV series. With clients that included The Raptors, CTV, CBC, TSN, Global, and more, their business flourished but Paul and Nina wanted more. They wanted to create their own content.
In 2004 commissioned by TVO they produced and directed their first independent feature-length documentary “The Idealist: James Beveridge Film Guru”. Since then they have produced, directed, and done the post on numerous multi-platform documentaries and TV series including their latest film, “Little India: Village of Dreams” which premiered in 2017 on TVO. “The Calling” an Olympic themed art film directed by Paul and produced by Nina Beveridge won several awards and received critical acclaim.
In 2006 Paul and Nina partnered with Susan Nation to create Hop To It Productions. Many of their initial productions were dance-themed including the cross-platform TVO kid series “Pop It!”. Paul was the director, editor, co-writer, and animator on this series. They also received development funding from Telefilm and the CBC for “Cupids Café” a multi-platform rom-com series. They have since collaborated on several broadcast docs and multi-platform projects.
Always looking to expand his repertoire Paul has worked with several other independent production companies. For Up Front Entertainment, he edited the series “Museum Diaries” as well as “Deadly By Design” a CBC Doc Zone film about ecstasy and meth production. For CineFocus Canada he edited several episodes and did the animated opening for the “Green Heroes“ series airing on TVO. For the last five years, he has also freelanced at Corus Entertainment working on everything from comedic skits and series to on-air promos to client services for commercials.
In 2012 Paul met prolific director Joel Stewart at Corus and began editing his productions. Since then they have collaborated on numerous docs, docu-concerts, comedy series, and reality shows. In 2017 “Brett Kissel Home Movie” won a CCMA for Best Country Production. In 2016 Paul was nominated for a Canadian Cinema Editors Award for Joel’s “High Valley Home Movie”. In 2013 they won another CCMA for “CMT Presents Dean Brody”, which was also nominated for a Canadian Screen Award.
