Dale Hildebrand
Dale is a passionate filmmaker, who loves to create visually captivating stories that touch the heart and soul of our global humanity. Winner and/or nominee of over 50 international awards, ranging from the best picture, best director, best cinematographer, 3 Gemini nominations, a Gemini win, and even a Canadian Student Nomination to the Academy Awards.
Renowned as a problem solver who always delivers, Dale started his career producing a series of action films for Universal Pictures, and numerous Canadian production companies, in which he also shot and directed stunts, FX and action-driven sequences.
Since then, Dale has placed a large focus on his own independent productions, telling stories in a voice uniquely his own. Dale’s current feature, “Road to the Lemon Grove“, filmed in 3 different continents, was released wide in theatres last fall. Winner of the Best Comedy Feature award at the Edmonton International Film Festival, The Cirs Award at the Taormina Film Festival, and Best Actor and Best in Italian-Canadian Cinema awards and the Italian Contemporary Film Festival, the film is a heartfelt journey filled with humor and hope.
Dale wrote, produced, directed, and shot 4 kids series, and his visually stunning film “T O in 2 4”, in which he was both Director and Director of Photography, won 28 awards. As a Cinematographer, Dale was entrenched behind enemy lines in Afghanistan, where he filmed all the live-action war-footage for Paul Gross’ feature film, “Hyena Road”. In addition, he was 2nd unit Director of Photography for the Jordan unit.
Currently, the documentary, “The Woman Who Loves Giraffes”, for which Dale was the Director of Photography, is in theatres across Canada, a large commercial campaign is in production, and three of his feature film scripts are under option in Hollywood.
Dale values the creative team that surrounds him and has a great reputation for working and collaborating with actors and crew alike. He loves to breathe life into the narrative, drawing on the extraordinary influences around him, in order to continually propel his craft to a higher level.
