Mentor Carrie Cutforth
Independent creative producer & writer, Carrie Cutforth creates fun shit across multiple platforms: content for screens, interactive storytelling, live events, and more. Since 2010, Carrie has been on the forefront of cutting-edge interactive storytelling. She has been collaborating with Susan Nation of Hop To It Productions since 2012 creating sites, TV, web series and games including the award-winning Talent Hounds project. She created and produced rare collectibles for SPY SLUTZ including a deck of retro trading cards for the same-named TV show that never existed; co-created and co-authored ALL YOUR FATES – the first serialized novella to be showrun like a TV series (on Wattpad in 2012); and wrote the novella [DEL]’S DIARY as part of Immersive Fiction’s VEIL NANSOSCIENCE alternate reality game.
As a community leader in web series and transmedia in Canada, she co-founded such community-building initiatives as the non-profit association THE INDEPENDENT WEB SERIES CREATORS OF CANADA, the seminar-series meetup group TRANSMEDIA 101, and the annual web series festival TO WEBFEST (which she co-produced its inaugural year). Carrie has appeared as a panelist, speaker, and lecturer at various conferences and universities on the subjects of participatory fiction, interactive storytelling, web-series, and transmedia.
Among her writing and producing screen credits, Carrie is currently serving as a writer for the TV project Studio Killers 404 (pilot episode currently in production). Her current project in development slated for release in spring 2021 is the digital series STARGAZE, produced by the production company BORKEN CREATIVE where she serves as President and Executive Producer.
Carrie shared her expertise and knowledge of the competitive environment with the Sloppy Jones team from the early development on YOLO Bistro and gave invaluable help on funding proposals and discoverability.
